Before elections chairperson, 6 members of Lokpal appointed

The President of India has appointed one Chairperson and seven Members of Lokpal.
The Lokpal was established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act 2013. The Lokpal is tasked with inquiring and investigating allegations of corruption against public functionaries falling within the scope and ambit of the Lokpal Act.
President of India Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday appointed former Supreme Court judge Justice AM Khanwilkar as the new Lokpal chairperson.

The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.
