Biggest-ever midnight action: Rupnagar administration seizes record number of poclain machines in mining crackdown

Rupnagar Administration conducted the biggest crackdown on illegal mining by seizing 7 poclain machines in one night.
Under the directions of DC Rupnagar Aaditya Dachalwal IAS and SSP Rupnagar Maninder Singh IPS , a team comprising of SDM Nangal Sachin Pathak, Inspector CIA Mandeep Singh and 8 police officials, a raid was conducted in Sainsowal-Sawara-Harsa Bela region of Nangal in the dead of the night.
Giving details, Sachin Pathak said that the team split into two parts and chased machines in river bed from both sides and were able to recover 6 of them – the biggest recovery of poclain machines in one time.
He disclosed that another team led by XEN Mining Bhavuk Sharma raided and obtained 1 poclain machine from river bed in Swan. This combined effort of civil as well as police teams comes in the wake of complaints received against illegal mining during the last few days.
Sachin Pathak further said that these raids are expected to serve as a deterrent to illegal mining as a part of the larger “Zero Tolerance” approach towards illegal mining by Chief Minister, Punjab.
Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction at the crackdown and said people should actively report cases of illegal mining and support District Administration’s effort to curb the same. Further, the Deputy Commissioner said that administration is duty bound to implement NGT guidelines in letter and spirit.
