Chitkara University becomes the first university in Punjab to adopt Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate cloud computing curricula in BE CSE specialization in Cloud Computing and Virtualization. Chitkara University is incorporating the AWS Educate curricula into the mainstream college syllabus with the aim to help develop the next generation of cloud professionals. The cloud computing content from AWS Educate will be offered as part of B.E. CSE Specialization in Cloud Computing and Virtualization programs starting in August, 2020.
Chitkara University has prepared the curriculum under the guidance of AWS Educate to make it focused on cloud computing and “industry aligned”, right from Year 1, with the aim that its students can successfully build careers in the ever-growing field of cloud computing and virtualization.
The proposed specialization will prepare students to understand the emerging technologies of cloud computing and virtualization, their principles, modeling, analysis, design, deployment, and industry-oriented applications. All major solution architectures and enabling technologies will be covered under this program.
The curriculum has been designed keeping the below points in consideration:
- Technology Skills: Apply current technical tools and methodologies to create cloud solutions.
- System Specifications: Design secure cloud information systems.
- Technology Analysis: Evaluate cloud computing trends, practices, and products.
- Cloud Analysis: Evaluate the potential impact of cloud-based information systems and technology on business processes.
- Project Management: Apply project management practices, tools, and methods to cloud solutions.
- Professional Development: Recognize the ethical considerations for IT professionals locally and globally as they develop in their careers.
“Cloud computing is shifting the paradigms of the IT industry, and is the future. Businesses need to focus on core competencies instead of managing the complexity of data centers. More businesses are adopting cloud computing for day-to-day management of their IT infrastructure. To fulfil the skills needed for the future, we have to start today,” said Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University.

The cloud curriculum from AWS Educate focuses on the fundamentals of cloud computing, modelling, analysis, design and deployment, which are relevant to industry-centric application development. It also includes industry standards for applications in the cloud and essential practices on cloud security. We are confident that this engagement with AWS will enable us to provide a better future for our students.”
All students participating in the B.E. CSE Specialization in Cloud Computing and Virtualization programs will be enrolled in AWS Educate, Amazon’s global initiative to provide students comprehensive resources for building skills in the cloud, and be provided with AWS Promotional Credits to gain real-world, hands-on experience using AWS cloud technology. With a focus on real-world, applied learning experiences, AWS Educate introduces cloud computing technologies driving innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence, voice and facial recognition, gaming, medical advancements, and more. It is an academic gateway for the next generation of IT and cloud professionals.

Supporting this effort is the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), a not-for-profit industry association and the apex body for the technology industry in India. NASSCOM will facilitate greater industry participation by engaging key employers in information technology (IT) and information technology enabled services (ITES) segments in India, to build a talent pipeline equipped with cloud skills.
