DC issues show cause notice to district education officers for declaring holiday in schools

Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, has issued a show cause notice to the district education officers for declaring holiday in schools at their own.
On December 14,2023 Shivpal Goyal, district education officer, senior secondary (SS) and Bhupinder kaur, district education officer (ES) has issued an office orders and directed the six school principals of Bathinda district to declare holiday on December 16 due to chief minister’s visit to Maur in Bathinda district.
As per DEO’s orders principals of GPS Maur mandi, SD Govt High School, Maur Mandi, SD Govt Primary School Maur Mandi, GSSS Maur Khurd, GSSS Maur Kalan, GSSS Maur Mandi Girls had been asked to declare December 16, 2023 a holiday in their schools as chief minister is visiting Maur on December 16,2023.Interestingly all the Principals are females.
The letter further stated that on December 15 the personnel’s of CM security will reach Maur and they are going to stay in these schools. The school principals have been asked to remain in the school till December 17,2023 evening. They must ensure the proper basics facilities like power; water etc for the security staff attached with the chief minister.
As soon as the deputy commissioner Bathinda came to know about this he immediately issued a show caused notice to the district education officers (SS and ES) and asked them to first withdraw their orders and secondly send their reply in two days. Otherwise action will be taken as per rules. He also questioned on whose orders they (both DEOs) had issued these orders and bypassed him.
