Deputy Commissioner, Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav conducted a surprise visit to the Red Cross De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center at Saket Hospital, where she interacted with patients undergoing treatment and gathered direct feedback on their progress. She emphasized that individuals receiving treatment at de-addiction centers in Patiala district will be registered with the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises and provided with job and self-employment opportunities to aid their reintegration into mainstream society. ADC (G) Isha Singal was also present during the visit.

Dr. Preeti Yadav directed Saket Hospital’s Project Director, Parminder Kaur Manchanda, to ensure continuous tele-counseling for recovered individuals to keep them motivated. She instructed that patients should be contacted weekly after discharge, then bi-weekly, and eventually monthly to provide ongoing support and guidance. Additionally, she proposed the creation of a WhatsApp group where recovered patients can share their concerns and receive expert advice from doctors and psychologists.

The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to launching skill-based vocational courses at all district de-addiction centers. These courses, such as AC repair, welding, and plumbing, will be designed to help rehabilitated individuals reintegrate into society. Groups of 30 individuals will be formed for each course, with transportation provided for those from centers with lower enrollments. Employment opportunities for patients from other districts will be coordinated with employment bureaus in their respective regions.
