Employees of various departments held a demonstration and burnt the effigy of the Punjab government to protest against the alleged failure of the government to fulfill the promise made with the employees regarding their demands in the budget.

Paramjit Singh Bains and Kuldeep Baba said that the Punjab Government has committed a great betrayal with the employees .
They said that in the election it was said that with the formation of Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) government in Punjab demands of the employees including payment arrears of pay commission of employees, rectification of anomalies of pay commission, providing arrears of the DA , implementation of the old pension scheme, regularisation of contractual employees, would be met but budget presented by the Finance Minister, has disappointed the employees.,who have been overlooked in the budget.
They said that the government should have announced a minimum wage of Rs. 26000 per month. The announcement to regularise 36000 contract workers is also a big deception because the AAP came with the promise that all kinds of contract workers would be made permanent. The number of contract workers is more than 2 lakh. There is no clarity about conditions for the regularisation of 36,000 contract employees
