Employees hold demonstration, burn effigy of Punjab govt.

Employees of various departments held a demonstration and burnt the effigy of the Punjab government to protest against the alleged failure of the government to fulfill the promise made  with the employees regarding their demands in the budget.

Punjab Subordinate Services Federation Ropar President Sukhdev Singh Surtapuri, PSEB Employees Federation AITUC) Punjab General Secretary Comrade Narinder Saini District AITUC Ropar President Radhey  Sham, Secretary Ranjit Singh Gill, Balwinder Singh Punjab Roadways, Kamaljit Singh, Rajinder Singh, Banwari Lal Mattoo, Harinder Bala and Government School Teachers  leader  Jagmohan Singh, Manjit Kumar , Mehar Singh,  Harbans Singh, Bajinder Kumar  Rajinder Singh, Surjit Lal,. Paramjit Singh Bains and  Kuldeep Baba  said that the Punjab Government has committed a great betrayal with the employees .

They said that in the election  it was said that with the formation of Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) government in Punjab demands of the employees including payment arrears of pay commission of employees, rectification of anomalies  of pay commission, providing arrears of the DA ,  implementation of the old pension scheme,regularisation of  contractual employees, would be met but  budget presented by the Finance Minister, has disappointed the employees.,who have been overlooked in the budget.

They said that the government should have announced a minimum wage of Rs. 26000  per month. The announcement to regularise 36000  contract workers is also a big deception because the AAP  came with the promise that all kinds of contract workers would be made permanent. The number of contract workers is more than 2 lakh. There is no clarity about  conditions for the  regularisation of  36,000 contract employees

There is no mention of regularizing the services of Anganwadi, Asha workers and mid-day meal workers and no increase in their wages.

They said that Aam Aadmi Party should learn a lesson from its humiliating defeat at the Sangrur Lok Sabha.by -election  and party should  fulfill its promises and sand with the Punjabis and the workers and the poor.
