Faux pass by Punjab school education department; released competitions calendar with mistake

The Punjab School Education Department has released the calendar of five and a half month long educational competitions dedicated to the 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, with a blunder.

As per a press release, along with a poster of the competition released by the state education department, they mentioned “the competition is dedicated to 440th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, where as its 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji”.

Earlier education Secretary Kirshan Kumar has released this calendar. Giving details about the competitions, he said that the competitions would be held from 6th July 2020 to 21st December 2020. These include shabd gyan, song, poetry, speech, playing musical instruments (harmonium, tabla, dholak, fiddle, dhadd), poster making, painting, slogan writing, calligraphy, P.P.T. making and dastarbandi.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the education department said that these competitions would be related only to the life, philosophy, teachings, Bani and sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Only government school students will be able to participate in these competitions. All the competitions will be held at primary, middle and secondary levels. Similarly, the competition for children with Special Needs (CWSN) also will be on three levels. A student can participate in a maximum of two items.

According to the spokesperson, these competitions will be conducted online and in the form of solo items to keeping in view the current covid-19 situation. To ensure smooth running of these activities a committee (separate at primary and secondary level) would be constituted in each district under the supervision of the district education officer. The district education officer will be the chairman of this committee and the deputy district education officer will be the member secretary.

When contacted by royalpatiala.in ,education Secretary Kirshan Kumar didn’t responded to mobile call  and he even didn’t reply to what’s app message.
