First casualty: farmers protesting against Preneet Kaur, BJP candidate from Patiala in Punjab die

A farmer Surinder Singh Aakri aged around 60 years have died today, while protesting against the BJP candidate from Patiala, Preneet Kaur.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha candidate from Patiala and wife of former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Preneet Kaur, again faced farmer’s ire during her campaign in Sehra-Sehri villages in Rajpura assembly constituency on Saturday.

Former akali dal leader and nephew of Prem Singh Chandumajra, Harvinder Singh Harpalpaur has planned an election rally of BJP candidate from Patiala parliamentary constituency, Preneet Kaur in the village when the farmers staged a massive protest against Preneet Kaur, who reached there to participate in her election rally.

Farmers have minor clash with Punjab Police personnel, Harvinder Singh Harpalpur who was trying to stop the farmers from going near her.

Kisan leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said “ our Kisan leaders are coming and we will chalk out our next course of action after meeting them.

The BJP candidates and leaders in Punjab, Haryana have been facing protests from the farmers who have shown them black flags when they were campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls.

The farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) have already said they will oppose the BJP and will ask the people to “punish” the saffron party in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The farmers owing allegiance to various farm outfits are upset with the BJP-led Centre for not accepting their demands, including a law on minimum support price.
