High drama witnessed during appearance of Alka Lamba before Rupnagar police; Cong stage protest

High drama was witnessed at Rupnagar on Wednesday as Punjab Congress and youth Congress organised a protest demonstration outside the office of the Rupnagar senior superintendent of police(SSP) during the appearance of the Congress leader Alka Lamba before Rupnagar police in a case registered regarding provocative statements made by poet and one of the founder members of Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) Kumar Vishwas in which Alka Lamba is also named as an accused.
The Congress workers led by Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa along with Alka Lamba first staged dharna outside the district administrative complex, which also house SSP office.
They alleged that Alka Lamba had been falsely implicated in the case registered on flimsy grounds for the statements made during assembly elections in Punjab at the behest of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal..
They said that AAP government had started a new practice by implicating a woman in false case for which the government had to pay heavy price.
Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu also arrived at the dharna spot and expressed solidarity with Alka Lamba.He lambasted AAP Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann for implicating Alka Lamba in the case.Sidhu,however, did not attend the dharna and left the spot after talking to media persons.Former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi was conspicuous by his absence.
Lateron, Congress,youth Congress,Mahila Congress and NSUI leaders and workers barged through the main gate of district administrative complex to go in front of SSP office,where they staged a demonstration and raised slogans against AAP,Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann.
In the melee one of the glasses of the entry gate of SSP office was broken.
The police allowed Alka Lamba, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring,Partap Singh Bajwa,Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa ,Raj Kumar Chabbewal,Sukhbinder Singh Sukh Sarkaria,Balbir Singh Sidhu,Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Barinder Singh Dhillon,Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Harminder Singh Gill ,Gurpreet Singh GP ,Harminder Singh Gill, Lakhbir Singh Lakha were allowed inside the office of SSP.who was not in his office and arrived after about one hour.
Emerging from the office after meeting SSP Sandeep Kumar Garag, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring said that Alka Lamba had gone to SSP office for joining investigation at head of Special Investigating Team(SIT) Harbir Singh Atwal was present there but the SSP had told them that since the case file had been sent to Punjab and Haryana High Court,she could not join the investigation and she should go to Rupnagar Sadar police station to mark her presence there.
Later on, Alka Lamba along with Congress leaders went to Rupnagar Sadar police station to appear before SIT.
