MM Central State Library witnesses Patiala Heritage Festival celebrations

Punjab Horticulture and defence Services Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra, MLA Ajit Pal Singh Kohli and Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra were impressed with the celebrations at Patiala Literature Festival at Musafir Memorial Central State Library. District Administration in collaboration with PAHAL (People for Art Heritage and Literature) organised a historical exhibition which showcased artefacts, and paintings related to the history of Royal City Patiala.
IG Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, Deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, members from royal families including Rani Preeti Kaur (Nabha) Raja Bhanu Partap Singh, Chambher Royal family, Kashmir royal family and Colonel Shree Grewal graced the occasion with their presence.
Cabinet Minister was amazed that the previous government did not pay attention towards royal heritage inspite of being a member of Royal family Patiala. He mentioned that CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has sanctioned Rs 8.26 crores for the digitalization of valuable treasure at the Central State Library.
MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli applauded Deputy commissioner Patiala for nicely organizing the heritage festival. He announced that the renovation of auditorium will result in an exceptional makeover. MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra said that the library will become a people’s Library in the true sense.
The world’s youngest historian Simar Singh’s book Brief History of the Royal City of Patiala ‘Riyast-e-Patiala’ and two more books by Dilawar Singh and Taranveer Singh were released during the festival.
On this occasion, the project of reprinting more than 100 years old books was started. A history exhibition was also organized by historian Simar Singh, in which the history of hundreds of years was eloquently exhibited.
Children enjoyed the stories narrated by the eminent storyteller Deeptha Vivekanand in the program ‘Qisse Kahaniyan’, under the story-telling program for children with the support of Pehal. While Kavyi Ghuman from Pehal Institute taught different forms of Phulkari embroidery in the ‘Tanke Tope’ workshop, A large number of students of schools and colleges, literature lovers and people of all ages including small children visited Patiala’s Art Exhibition at Central State Library, Craft Workshop and Reading Workshop.
MM Central State Library witnesses Patiala Heritage Festival celebrations . Apart from the stalls of the National Book Trust, Punjabi University and Language Department, Saket Nasha Mukti Kendra, Jan Hit Samiti, and Patiala Social Welfare, there were cultural events by various school students.
On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Gautam Jain, A.C. (UT.) Dr Akshita Gupta, SDMs Charanjit Singh and Kirpalveer Singh, Chief Librarian Dr Prabhjot Kaur, DDF Priya Singh along with Dr Tanya Mander, Dr Manveer Kaur and other personalities were present in.
