MRSPTU celebrated National Pharmacy Week-2017

As per the directives of Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Mumbai, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda started celebrations of National Pharmacy Week – 2017.

Head of Department Professor Dr. Ashish Baldi informed that “Know your medicine: Ask your pharmacist” is the theme of this year’s national pharmacy week under which various events and programmes will be organized from 19th to 25th November throughout country. During this week various expert lectures, awareness camps on the side effects of drugs, pharma-rangoli, poster making and many other events will be organized in department.

MRSPTU celebrated National Pharmacy Week-2017

National pharmacy week was started at the department by organizing oath taking ceremony in which the students and teachers of the department pledged to work and obey the ‘Code of Ethics’ set by Pharmacy Council of India for pharmacist. Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Mohanpal Singh Ishar congratulated whole fraternity of pharmacy and said that pharmacist is a vital part of health care system. As pharmacists are routinely interacting with the patients it is their duty to provide full information about medicines to them. He stressed upon that the pharmacist has to play important role in right use of medicines and controlling misuse of drugs.

Head of Department Professor Dr. Ashish Baldi informed that a lecture series is also organized at university level for the students to spread awareness about right of medicines and consequences of the drug abuse.

During MRSPTU celebrations of National Pharmacy Week 2017 Dr. Puneet Bansal, Dr. Uttam Mandal, Dr. Rahul Deshmukh and Dr. Amit Bhatia were also present.
