On PSEBEA SOS, PSPCL management acted swiftly; issues orders to provide basic amenities

Punjab state electricity board engineers association (PSEBEA) had sent a SOS message to the powercom management to  treat engineers performing arduous duties as HUMAN BEINGS, working round the clock at remote grids who require food, washroom facilities, proper sleeping conditions (at least 8 hours), medical facilities.

Acting swiftly, the Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) management has accepted their demand. An order is this regard has been issued today by director distribution , DIPS Grewal to all the chief engineers (DS and P&M) to ensure arrangement of necessary facilities like food, washroom, medical care etc. for the officers/officials performing round the clock duties at grid substations.

Director distribution appreciated the working of powercom engineers  and said “during these difficult times, officers/officials deputed at substations are doing a commendable job with a great sense of responsibility to ensure uninterrupted power in the state. The enthusiasm with which they have handled the situation is truly exceptional.”

He ordered the chief engineers “to ensure arrangement of necessary facilities like food, washroom, medical care etc. for the officers/officials performing round the clock duties at grid substations. Many of the officers/officials are performing duties at remote locations far from their families. We need to appreciate the cooperation that they have displayed under such strenuous conditions. All HODs are requested to talk to them, resolve their issues and boost their morale.”

On PSEBEA SOS, PSPCL management acted swiftly; issues orders to provide basic amenities .Director distribution further instructed the officials to ensure protection of these employees. Wherever deemed necessary, police help should be sought immediately. Requests of the officers/officials seeking mutual adjustments should be considered positively while making duty roaster arrangements.

Earlier in a letter given to the CMD of the PSPCL by the PSEBEA about the “Non-Fulfillment of Agreed Genuine Demands and to Improve Conditions Under Which Engineers are Performing Emergency Duties at Various Substations Across Punjab” has reminded the management that most Unions/ Associations are on mass casual leave from 15/11/21 and the same has been extended by the Unions upto 6/12/21, as the discussions/ deliberations held with them have not been concluded to their satisfaction by the management.”
