Diwali is just few days away and residents of Patiala are waiting eagerly to purchase the firecrackers from the market. But they have to wait for another two days as the administration has not yet issued the license to the seller. A peculiar situation has come in front of district administration.
“Patiala district administration had demanded the application for the issuance of temporary license for sale of crackers on diwali and gurpurab. It’s open for all and anybody can apply for the a firecracker stall license by October 29,2021 .The allottee was selected through a draw of lots conducted at mini-secretariat, on October 29,2021. After the draw, we issued the license yesterday itself, on October 29,2021 to that person and authorized him to sell the firecrackers on the occasion of diwali and gurpurab. But that person later refused and gave in writing that he is not interested ” said Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, assistant commissioner (general), Patiala.
Bhullar added, “after the refusal and withdrawal of application by the successful allottee, we are going to conduct another draw of lots on Monday, November 1,2021, from the application we have received earlier, as its not feasible to call the fresh applications. The draw of lot will be conducted at 1:00 pm in room number 109, office of the deputy commissioner, A block, Mini Secctt. Patiala.”
Bhullar added that “Patiala district administration will issue only one temporary license ,as per high court directions and the administration has enmarked an open space at Polo ground, for selling of fire crackers.”
