“In an expression of solidarity and support to the ongoing protest of Punjab Revenue Officers’ Association against the wrongful implication and arrest of Naib Tehsildar Sandeep Kumar and Registry clerk Manjit Singh by the Vigilance authorities, the Punjab Civil Services Officers’ Association (PCS Officers’ association) has decided to proceed on mass casual leave for one day on 10 December 2021. Election related duties will continue to be performed” said Lt. Col. Manjit Singh Cheema, president Punjab civil Services Officers’ Association.
“Tough the action by Punjab Civil Services Officers’s association is occasioned by and in support of the ongoing protest by Punjab Revenue officers’ Association, it is also aimed at drawing the attention of the Government to the repeated violations of the provisions of the Government of Punjab, Department of Vigilance letter No 19/1/98-GV (I) 3900-4050 dated 06 march 2000 and the Prevention of Corruption (amendment) Act 2018 by Vigilance authorities . Whether it is the arrest of Tarsem Chand PCS or Naib Tehsildar Sandeep Kumar or Registry Clerk Manjit Singh, the common thread in all these arbitrary arrests is the complete disregard of the provisions of the vigilance department letter dated 06 march 2020 and the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 by vigilance authorities” said Ankur Mahindroo, PCS, general secretary of the association.
On the other hand, as per available information, continuing their fortnight-old protest, activists of the Revenue Officer Association Punjab, posted at various registrar and sub-registrar offices of the region, have proceeded on indefinite mass leave, with plans to join their counterparts from other parts of the state during protest rally and march towards the residence of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi in Morinda on Friday.
Besides seeking immediate release of Mahilpur Naib Tehsildar Sandeep Kumar and registry clerk Manjit Singh and withdrawal of criminal case registered by Vigilance against them, the protesters are also demanding stern action against three officials.
