Sanjeev Bittu is Patiala Mayor Yogi Sr Dy Mayor
Over a month after municipal corporation elections, the Patiala gets, Sanjeev Sharma Bittu as Mayor, Yoginder Yogi as Senior Deputy Mayor and Vinti Sangar as Deputy Mayor from the winning Congress Councillors.
As expected, leader of opposition in the outgoing MC House, a three-time Councillor Sanjiv Sharma Bittu, was a leading contender for the mayoral post and he succeeded in his attempt. Sanjeev Sharma is a Brahmin face of the Congress and is presently the state president of Congress’s local bodies’ cell. He had won this term election unopposed.
The newly elected team of Patiala Municipal Corporation have trusted members of Preneet Kaur, who is willing to contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Pertinently out of MC house of total 60, 32 seats fall in the constituency of Captain Amarinder, 26 in Brahm Mohindra and two in Sanaur.
Out of a house of 60, Congress won with a clear majority of 59, while one seat fell into the Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) kitty.
Today in the morning elected public representatives of 60 wards of Patiala gathered in an auditorium of Patiala Municipal Corporation. MLA Patiala (rural) and Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra also attended the election process of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Out of the present councillors, the process began with the proposal of Mayor post and Sanjeev Sharma name was proposed. Likewise, the councillors proposed the names of Yoginder Singh Yogi and Vineet Sangar for the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Yesterday newly elected congress councillors held a meeting in presence of MLA Nabha and Punjab cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, who acts as an observer for mayoral elections.
Latter as per the tradition of Congress, the newly elected councillors authorised high command to make the final announcement of the candidate of their choice.
