Punjab’s firebrand Congress leader and former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today paid an obeisance at the Gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village in Faridkot district, on the occasion of Baisakhi.

In a surprise move, he visited at the Gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village in Faridkot district, in the morning from where a bir (copy) of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen in June 1, 2015. A case was registered at Bajakhana police station. Later, the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib was committed as torn pages of the bir were found scattered in front of a gurdwara at Bargari on October 12, 2015, triggering outrage across the state.

Sidhu met the caretaker and few villagers at the Gurudwara Sahib and announced a Facebook live interaction, that “Justice delayed is justice denied”.

He didn’t name anyone in his live talk. He said, “it’s a game of Chess, in which only pawns are targeted. No one is arresting, highlighting the roles of the King or the big leaders. “

He said” martyr Shaheed Udham Singh had taken the revenge of Jalianwala Bagh massacre from the officer, who ordered the military to fire, as he was the main culprit. “He further added that the whole nation got united after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

On June 1, 2015, a ‘bir’ of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen from the gurdwara at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala. On October 12, 2015, torn pages of this ‘bir’ were found scattered in front of the gurdwara in adjoining Bargari village. There were massive protests in which two Sikh protesters were killed at Behbal Kalan, followed by the killing of a Dera follower at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 16, 2016.
