Punjab Police on late Friday night booked Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal, his brother-in-law and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura along with battery of leaders, SGPC members ,local leaders, MC’s in a criminal case on the allegations of blocking the road on Harike Bridge and obstructing traffic, which causes harassment to the general public.
A case under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 283 (causing danger or obstruction in public way), 431 (damage to roads and bridges), 188, 148 of the Indian Penal Code and section 8-B of the National Highway Act, 1956 has been registered at Makhu police station under Ferozepur District for blocking at Bangaliwala Pul, near Harrike and obstructing the traffic on highway.
The Akali leaders led by its President and former Dy. CM Sukhbir Singh Badal have been charged for blocking the national highway. They put up a tent on the road and stationed their vehicles on the road and blocked the road, which caused inconvenience to public. They are charged for violating of orders dated 30-11-2017 of Ferozepur deputy commissioner , as team led by Sukhbir Singh Badal spent a night on the road and obstructing the vehicular traffic on the highway.
Sukhbir Singh Badal along with local party leaders, ex-MLA’s, SGPC members, MC’s with hundreds of workers sat on dharna on 7th Dec 2017 night , in protest against the alleged attack by Congress activists on Shiromani Akali Dal workers at Mallanwala in Ferozepur district and registering FIR’s against SAD workers. They alleged that some of its party candidates were prevented from filling their nomination papers for the December 17 civic polls at a number of places and congress workers clashed with them at Mallanwala.
Sukhbir Singh Badal, along with SAD workers, SGPC members lifted the dharna after most demands of agitating SAD President and workers were met and the vehicular traffic was restored.
