Today shiromani akali dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced SAD leaders Prem Singh Chandumajra from Ghanaur assembly constituency in Patiala district and Dilraj Singh Bhundar from Sardulgarh assembly constituency.

After the announcement, resentment prevails in Ghanaur constituency over the ticket allotment to a parachute candidate –Prem Singh Chandujmajra. His son, Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra is a sitting MLA from Sanour and Badal has already announced his candidature from Sanour.

Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur, former SAD MLA from Ghanaour said “ Badal’s ditched us. We remained loyal to the Badal family. In the last 42 years, our family remained with Badals in thick and thin. But, they did it wrong this time. On what will be her next action, she said “I’ll talk, discuss with my  party workers and decide further course of action.”

Another SAD ticket aspirant Harinder Singh Harpalpur, who is nephew (Bhanja) of Prem Singh Chandumajra said “SAD has proved that it’s just like other parties. No party has ever fielded a local candidate from this constituency. They made the local residents and leaders, fool.   On what will be his next action, he said “I’ll talk, discuss with my party workers and decide further course of action.”

When contacted shiromani akali dal spokesperson Dr Daljit Singh Cheema  he said “the party has given the tickets to Chandumajra family and Tota Singh family as an exception, as they are senior leaders and are contesting elections.”

Earlier digging in heels over denial of ticket to his son, former minister and senior SAD leader Sikander Singh Maluka had said that the party should pass a resolution against issuing ticket two candidates from one family, barring the Badals.

Dilraj Singh Bhundar is a son of SAD Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhundar.

Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur who lost 2017 assembly elections by 36,557 from Madan Lal Jalalpur, remained MLA in SAD-BJP term 2012-2017 had defeated Congress candidate Madan Lal Jalalpur by 1,778 votes.
