Top schools face-off at Sardar Mohan Singh Inter-School Debate at Modern School, Patiala

St. Peter’s Academy lifted the winner’s trophy at the prestigious Sardar Mohan Singh Inter-school Debate hosted by Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala, recently. The strongly contested debate featured 9 leading schools of Patiala, who argued on the topic ‘Social media can – and should – be held accountable for the spread of misinformation’. Budha Dal Public School came second and The Millennium School took the third prize.
The debate was judged by a panel of three esteemed personalities – actor and film-maker Sohrab Khandelwal, former Indian cricketer turned commentator, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, and leading psychologist Dr. Sonam Dulat of Thapar Institute, Patiala.
At the individual level, Ekam Deol of Modern Senior Secondary School, who argued for the motion, won the first prize and was awarded an Apple I-Pad. Mansirat Kaur of St. Peter’s Academy, who argued against the motion, came second and was also the proud recipient of an Apple I-Pad. Tanvi Gupta of Sri Aurobindo International School, who argued against the motion, stood third and was awarded the finest coffee-table books and other classics worth Rs. 10,000. Winners also received cups and certificates.
Fine books, worth Rs. 5,000 each, were given to the two best interjectors in the debate – Vanshika of Our Lady of Fatima School and Sukhman Bhullar of DAV Public School.

Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala, hosts the annual debate, which is named after its illustrious founder, Sardar Mohan Singh, who founded the school in 1948.
