TSPL intensifies efforts for greater preparedness against COVID-19

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), the largest thermal power plant in Punjab, has intensified efforts on site to increase preparedness against the pandemic, in strict adherence to the COVID guidelines issued by central and state governments. As Punjab’s iconic power producer, TSPL is cognizant of its responsibilities towards the wellbeing of its entire workforce as and has undertaken extensive measures to ensure safety of its employees and business partners.

Speaking on the COVID preventive measures undertaken at the plant, Vikas Sharma, CEO and Whole Time Director, TSPL said, “In the wake of escalating scenario across the nation, we have reinforced our health and safety measures at our operations to ensure greater preparedness against the pandemic. Simultaneously, we are leveraging digital technologies to monitor the site’s compliance to COVID-19 guidelines issued by state and central governments.”

Several steps have been taken to ensure a robust safety mechanism within the premises, to keep the virus at bay:

  • Mandatory temperature check of the entire workforce at plant entry & exit points.
  • Biometric attendance systems have been replaced with face recognition and no-touch card punch systems to minimize contact.
  • Masks and relevant Personal Protective Employees (PPEs), and social distancing at workplace have been mandated within plant premises.
  • No-touch pedal-operated hand sanitizer dispensing machines and Ultra-Violet (UV) sanitization bags have been innovated inhouse for better hygiene, and disinfection of documents, PPEs and personal belongings of employees and visitors.
  • Increased frequency of sanitization and disinfection of plant premises, assets and common areas.
  • All meetings, deliberations, discussions and trainings are being conducted online to ensure seamless business continuity with minimal physical interaction.

Outside operations, TSPL has been at the forefront of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in Mansa and has undertaken several social development projects around the plant site contributing towards socio economic development of the area. In the changing paradigm of social fabric due to the pandemic, TSPL is aiding the district and police administration effectively fight the pandemic.
