Union Govt issues order on the appointment of Cabinet Secretary

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension in service to Rajiv Gauba, lAS (JH:82) as Cabinet Secretary for a further period of one year beyond 30.08.2023.
Rajiv Gauba is an Indian civil servant serving as the current Cabinet Secretary of India since 2019. He is an Indian Administrative Service officer belonging to the 1982 batch of Jharkhand cadre. Prior to his appointment as Cabinet Secretary, he was Home Secretary of India, Union Urban Development Secretary, and the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand.
The Cabinet Secretary is the top-most executive official and senior-most civil servant of the Government of India. The Cabinet Secretary is the ex-officio head of the Civil Services Board, the Cabinet Secretariat, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and all Civil Services of India work under the rules of business of the government.
The Cabinet Secretary is the senior-most cadre post of the Indian Administrative Service, ranking eleventh on the Indian order of precedence. The Cabinet Secretary is under the direct charge of the Prime Minister.
