VC Kohli bid adieu CUP Bathinda; motivated staff to take university to new heights

Central University of Punjab fraternity organized a special programme on Monday to affectionately honour their Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Kohli on the successful completion of his tenure. Prof. Kohli is the internationally acclaimed Ecologist, & is the role model in the higher education sector with more than 41 years of experience in teaching & research. He joined the Central University of Punjab as the second Vice-Chancellor on 5th September 2014. He successfully completed his tenure of approximately six-year duration. To mark this occasion, the university employees hold a special programme to convey their gratitude towards the stalwart academician. Prof. V.K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, Prof Ramakrishna Wusurika, Dean Incharge Academic Affairs, Prof Anjana Munshi, Dean Research, K.P.S. Mundra, Registrar, and selected faculty members & administrative staff attended this programme by adhering to the social-distancing rules and COVID-19 preventive measures.
Prof. R.K. Kohli, M.Sc, Ph.D, is the certified senior ecologist of ESA, USA. He is the recipient of JC Bose National Fellow Award from DST, GOI, and is the fellow of all four premier science academies of India. In his long academic career, Prof Kohli has been the Vice-Chancellor of DAV University Jalandhar, and DUI at Panjab University Chandigarh. He has also chaired meetings of several academic bodies in India & Abroad. During the Vice-Chancellor tenure of Prof. Kohli, CUPB set new benchmarks in education & research. During his tenure, the University got accredited with ‘A Grade’ from NAAC. Under his able leadership, the CUPB become the youngest university to be ranked among the top best 100 Universities of Country thrice in NIRF India Rankings. His contribution and achievements in the field of academia and academic administration are extremely commendable and will be engraved in golden letters in the history.
Speaking on this occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof R.K. Kohli thanked CUPB employees for their tremendous support and cooperation during his entire tenure. He gave credit to CUPB employees for working together as a family and for making valuable contributions to the growth and progress of the university. He motivated the faculty and staff to continue their good work and take this University to new heights.
Prof. V.K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, mentioned that Prof. Kohli has elegantly managed all the academic and administrative affairs of the university with honesty and sincerity. He added, under the able leadership of Prof. Kohli, CUPB has almost zero backlogs as our administration has completed all the important tasks well in time, such as organizing Convocations to confer degrees to pass-out students, conducting timely promotion of faculty members under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), executing online exams & declaring results of final year students in COVID-19 times etc. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for conducting the fair recruitments and appointing the best faculty & staff at CUPB, which is vital for the growth of the University. He stated that the guiding principles of our VC have helped our students and employees to contribute the best in their respective field.
Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, Registrar, CUPB, thanked Prof Kohli for setting strong academic & administrative systems with which our university will set new benchmarks in coming years. He mentioned, Prof Kohli is an inspirational academician and a kind-hearted person who is always ready to help & guide the employees & students of this university as the head of the family. After this, faculty members shared their messages to convey their gratitude towards their adorable leader. During this programme, Registrar & senior faculty members felicitated Vice-Chancellor Prof R.K. Kohli by presenting a memento on behalf of CUPB Family, and conveyed best wishes for his future assignments.
