Last month Shiromani Akali Dal president suddenly announced to launch a state wide protest on July 7, 2020 against the fuel price hiked by central government and state government and discrepancies against the distribution of ration, in Punjab.
“The actual motive behind the state wide protest by SAD (Badal) is to stop and check the exodus of its party workers in to the rebel Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa group. SAD (Badal) has already expelled Dhindsa and his son Parminder Singh Dhindsa for anti party activities. Since then Dhindsa is actively approaching akali leaders, who were not happy in the leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal and has already planned to make a big announcement on July,7,2020. So Sukhbir Singh Badal played this protest gimmick on July,7,2020 and asked his party cadre to hold protest, ward wise and in this way they will get the idea about its party workers, leaders intention” said a political analyst.
As per sources, as per his announcement, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa today floating his party under the name of Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic) to “mainly oppose” the SAD and the Badal family. Yesterday Dhindsa said in Patiala that “our doors are open to all like-minded leaders who want to free the SGPC from the clutches of the Badals,” .
SAD is in alliance with BJP and 24 hours before the protest, its president changed the agenda and left the fuel price hike point, as it is also related to the central govt.and its president Sukhbir Singh Badal tweeted “Shiromani Akali Dal will hold dharnas in villages on July 7 to question the state govt over bungling of 70,000 MT ration for April,May & June & warn the govt to distribute ration fairly over next 5 months. Everyone must come together to fight for the rights of the needy. #Protest ”
But today Sukhbir Singh Badal protest on fuel price hike and tweeted “Participated in party’s dharna at Zirakpur to protest against embezzlement & wrong distribution of ration in Punjab by #Congress leaders. Also demanded withdrawal of exorbitant power tariff hike and the reduction of petrol & diesel prices.”
