World University organised an Extension Lecture on Nuclear Reactions

Department of Physics of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a special lecture on the topic of “Exploration of Nuclear Phenomenon using Heavy Ion Reactions“. On this occasion, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor, Thapar University, Patiala was the invited speaker.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. Tejbir Singh, Head, Department of Physics welcomed Dr. Sharma and other dignitaries. He introduced Dr. Sharma and his field of research briefly. During his speech, Dr. Sharma said that in the field of research, the scientific ideas are worked upon consistently without considering them the ultimate ones. He cited numerous examples from the history of scientific research as a proof of this fact.

He said that mankind has not only succeeded to explore number of mysteries about atomic nucleus but also using them for the welfare of humanity. He further shed light on the special role of nuclear reactions, to explore the numerous nuclear phenomenons and shared that this process is still going on worldwide.

During the lecture, Dr. Yogesh Vermani, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Miss. Bindia and Dr. Harpreet Kaur were present along with the research scholar and the students from B.Sc., M.Sc. classes. On this occasion Dr. BirBikram Singh while conducting the stage summarized the lecture and said that Dr. Sharma has more than 25 years long experience of research in the field of nuclear physics during which he has guided number of students for their Ph.D. At the end of the program, Dr. Preet Kaur presented a vote of thanks.
