Progressive Teachers’ Front Launches Election Campaign for Punjabi University Campus Teachers’ Association Elections

Today, the Progressive Teachers’ Front has launched an enthusiastic and issue-based campaign for the upcoming university teachers’ elections scheduled for February 11.
Committed to academic progress, teachers’ rights, and institutional reforms, the Progressive Teachers’ Front is receiving widespread support from the faculty of Punjabi University.
During a press note release and election campaign event, the leaders of DTC and PTC emphasized the need for democratic representation, administrative transparency, and improved working conditions for teachers.
Notably, the joint front, Progressive Teachers Front (PTF) has fielded candidates for various positions: – President: Dr. Avneetpal Singh (Department of Botany) ,Secretary: Sukhjinder Singh Butter (Department of Mechanical Engineering), Vice President: Dr. Gurpreet Singh (Department of Civil Engineering),Joint Secretary- Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Brar . Additionally, the following candidates are contesting as executive members: – Dr. Gulshan Bansal , Dr. Gauravdeep ,- Dr. Amarpreet Singh,- Dr. Navdeep Goel .
Today, the campaign started from the Law Department and covered all Arts blocks of the university, where teachers were engaged, and election-related pamphlets were distributed. The PTF received a strong and encouraging response.
While distributing the election manifesto, PTF leaders, including Dr. Nishan Singh Diol (former PUTA President), Dr. Jasdeep Singh Toor (former PUTA Secretary), Dr. Gurmukh Singh, and Dr. Poonam Patyar**, highlighted key demands such as: – Expedited promotions for teachers under the CAS scheme , Immediate implementation of the 7th Pay Commission’s revised salary scales and pending arrears,- Disbursement of outstanding DA (Dearness Allowance) and Ph.D. increments , Timely PUTA elections conducted through democratic procedures – Appointment of a permanent Vice-Chancellor for the university.

The leaders expressed confidence that PTF would secure a decisive victory in the PUTA elections and work with full commitment towards addressing teachers’ demands positively for the betterment of Punjabi University faculty. During today’s campaign, several faculty members, including Dr. Gursewak Lambi, Dr. Mohan Tyagi, Dr. Gagan Thapa, Dr. Khushdeep Goel, Dr. Davinder Singh, Dr. Praveen Lata, Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Dr. Harvinder Singh Dhaliwal, and Dr. Charanjit Nohra, actively participated alongside the candidates.
