SSP who arrested Majithia suspended following IAS officer’s complaint

As per initial reports, Punjab government has issued a suspension orders of SSP Vigilance, Amritsar Lakhbir Singh.
The Punjab government has taken major action against the Vigilance SSP who arrested senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia on June 25.

As per available information, SSP Vigilance Amritsar Lakhbir Singh,PPS is suspended on the complaint of a senior IAS officer for his corrupt practices in Rs 55 crore development work tenders. In addition, the action was taken against the officer for failing to take action after a case was registered against a well-known social worker from Amritsar.
While the Punjab vigilance bureau spokesperson said “An internal complaint has been received regarding the concerned officer. In response, appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated. Lakhbir Singh, PPS, who was previously posted as SSP, Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar, has been placed under suspension for unauthorised interference in matters outside his official domain. As per the orders, during the suspension period, his headquarters will be the office of the Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarh.Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated, and the matter is being examined in depth in accordance with established procedures.”
