Central University of Punjab Professor Invited by Chinese University to Teach Punjabi Language

In a significant step towards promoting Indian language and culture at the global level, a professor from the Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab), Bathinda, has been invited by a Chinese university to teach the Punjabi language. Prof. Zameerpal Kaur Sandhu Bajwa, Professor in the Department of Punjabi and former Dean of the School of Languages, Literature and Culture at CU Punjab, has been invited by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), China, to serve as a Foreign Expert in Punjabi Language and South Asian Studies for the academic session 2026–27.
After receiving approval from the university, Prof. Bajwa has proceeded on a visit to BFSU, China. During her stay, she will teach courses on the Punjabi language and the history and culture of Punjab, prepare Punjabi teaching materials, supervise graduate students in South Asian language programmes, and assist in training Chinese teachers in Punjabi language instruction. During her visit to China, BFSU will provide round-trip travel and accommodation, while CU Punjab will continue to pay her salary.

Congratulating Prof. Bajwa, CU Punjab Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari described the development as an outreach initiative aimed at promoting the Punjabi language at the international level. He stated that such academic collaborations will help enhance the global visibility of Indian languages and scholarship in international academic institutions.
