Mission-Patiala to be First Stray Dog Free City-Bhullar

The Society for People’s Welfare & Awareness Patiala (SPWAP) a city based NGO as crusader against stray dog menace in Punjab, has welcomed the initiative taken by Punjab Government and Patiala Municipal Corporation to solve the rising stray dog problem in Patiala

Interacting with leaders of the NGO during a meeting at Top Khana Road, Patiala  Mayor Sanjeev Bittu said with sufficient funds and will to act, the corporation will leave no stone un turned to solve the problem as its priority which has now changed into an epidemic.

Stressing on the need for hundred percent sterilization of stray dogs under strict supervision, Chairman of the SPWAP Dr DS Bhullar also demanded effective vaccination of stray dogs to save people from deadly rabies disease along with concrete solution to check open littering by the animals which is proving a big setback to the Swachh Bharat Abhian of the Government of India and a big source of infectious diseases.

Apart from need of awareness programmes to the people to take preventive measures against openly roaming stray dogs on streets, the Society also demanded compensation and free treatment to dog bite victims with a strong appeal to the people to support the Municipal Corporation with a mission to achieve the target of First Stray Dog Free City of Punjab for Patiala city.
