Restore Interrupted Power, Water Supplies and Road Connectivity, DC Aashika to Officers in Mohali

Taking stock of ongoing relief and rescue works in the district in wake of the disaster caused by heavy rain, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Deputy Commissioner, Aashika Jain, directed to restore power and drinking water supplies wherever affected and to resume road connectivity disrupted by storm water, in the district with immediate effect.
Holding a meeting with the officers of different departments deputed to oversee the relief and rescue operation, she said that it’s our prime duty to ensure proper upkeep of evacuees staying at temporary relief camps and ti cater to their needs of food and medical checkup. She asked the DFSC to ensure the uninterrupted supply of food, drinking water besides proper medical checkup to prevent them from vector borne diseases.
She further instructed to clear the waterlogged roads including link roads and urban areas including localities as this is the right time to take action as well as extending a helping hand to ease the movement of the people.
Besides, while asking the concerned officials to expedite dewatering, the deputy commissioner Jain reviewed the level of water at sensitive points such as Sotal, Malakpur (SYL embankment), Bhankharpur, Mubarakpur (Ghaggar), Baltana (Sukhna Choe) . She asked the concerned officers to monitor the flow minutely.
Asking MC Mohali and GMADA to clear the roads in their areas from fallen trees and other obstructions besides repair the cuts and other potholes. Similarly, EOs directed to check all their roads and repair if damaged in floods. Reviewing the situation arisen after appearing the breach in Ghaggar at Alamgir, she asked the SDM Derabassi Himanshu Gupta to take care of the evacuees as well as the villagers of Sadhapur, Dandera, Khajur Mandi, Sarsini and Tiwana who are at safer place with plenty of food and drinking water apart from plugging the breach as soon as possible.
SDM while apprising the DC said that NDRF has been stationed at these points to cope up with any emergency despite evacuating the villagers to Lalru palaces.
Referring to the persistent power (electricity) problem of TDI City and AERO city residents, she asked the GMADA officials to look into the matter with immediate effect to restore the supply. She said the builders to be asked strictly to repair the internal faults besides PSPCL to resolve external problems.
“We should not be in a hurry for sending people back to their homes. Keep a watch today and meanwhile, get the houses checked for the presence of any danger before moving them back,” asked DC Aashika to the concerned officers.

Assigning ADCs the monitoring of rescue and relief operations closely, she said that maximum stress to be given to ease out the problems of flood effected people so that they could not feel discomfort or alienated.
