An awareness seminar on World Cancer Day held at Govt Mohindra College

A Three-day workshop from February 4 to 6, 2024  on Biotechnology related tools and techniques organized by Department of Botany, and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with Career Counseling and Placement Cell, Government Mohindra College, Patiala commenced today. This workshop is being organized under the Punjab Government Project “Scheme for Career Counseling in Government Colleges of Punjab”, in which scientists from Dehradun associated with DNA Labs are participating as trainers and speakers.

Principal of Government Mohindra College, Patiala Amarjit Singh said that this initiative is commendable and it will help the students a lot in the current studies as well as in future research activities. Students have enthusiastically registered their names for participating in this workshop.

Today, on the first day of workshop, in concern with “World Cancer Day”, an online seminar was conducted to educate students about this dangerous disease. In the first session, Dr. Paramjit Singh, scientist, DNA Labs, talked about Cervical Cancer. In the second session, Dr. Hina Ruhela, (MD in Microbiology) informed the participants about the significant role of bacteria and viruses in the deadly disease.

An awareness seminar on World Cancer Day held at Govt Mohindra College. Around 100 students of BSc Medical and B.Sc Biotechnology from Botany, Zoology and Biotech Departments participated in today’s sessions. The convener of this workshop, Prof. Rommy Garg, said that such initiatives help to increase the knowledge of the students tremendously. On this occasion, Prof. Rachna (Convener, Career Counseling and Placement Cell), Prof. Loveleen, Prof. Sohail, Prof. Suneet, Prof. Yodha Singh, Prof. Harpreet Singh, Prof. Rai Bahadur Singh, Prof. Lakhwinder Kaur, Prof. Harwinder Kaur, Prof. Navneet Kaur, Prof. Jyoti, Prof. Ramneet and Prof. Taranpreet Kaur were also present.
