Excise Inspector arrested by Patiala police; accused in Fortuner accident case

Patiala police today arrested excise inspector Prithpal Singh, prime accused in the “Fortuner accident case” that occurred outside Thapar college Patiala on March 29,2021 evening.

The accused got himself admitted at a private hospital Vardhman hospital, urban estate Patiala, after the accident. Next day, after the deceased Inderjit Singh relatives, friends, farmers staged a dharna and blocked the accident site-outside Thapar college and demanded the withdrawal of VIP treatment given to the accused Prithpal Singh, at Private hospital and shifting to government Rajindra hospital, he was shifted to Govt Rajindra Hospital.

After he was discharged by the government Rajindra hospital authorities, Patiala police arrested him.

As per Tripuri police station, he will be presented before the judicial magistrate and presently his medical examination is going on.

Three persons-Inderjit Singh aged 65 years, Ansh 2 years and Paramvir 15-16 years were already succumbed to their injuries and died. Another 3-4 persons were still injured and admitted at private/ government hospitals. Some of the injured were still in critical condition.

Accused, Prithpal Singh was recklessly driving Fortuner CH 01 AQ 6969 and hits a Hyndai, Maruti Swift, a motorcycle and farmers standing in the chowk silently and peacefully protesting against the three farm bills, at traffic light point outside Thapar college, Patiala.

A FIR number 78 dated 30-3-2021 is lodged against Fortuner number CH 01 AQ 6969 driver Prithpal Singh resident of House No 50, Urban Estate III, Patiala, under section 297 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) , 337 (causes hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life), 338 (causes grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life), 427 (commits mischief ), 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide) , 304 (Whoever commits culpable homicide ) IPC.
