National Lok Adalat of recovery of banks held in Patiala
Under the able guidance and supervision of Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali Justice T.P.S. Maan and the able guidance of Sanjiv Berry, Learned District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, National Lok Adalat pertaining to all recovery cases of Financial Institutions including banks has been held in District Patiala. For this purpose, 08 judicial benches were constituted in District Patiala. During this National Lok Adalat, cases under different categories were taken up for their settlement through mutual compromise and thereby 1058 cases were taken up, wherein 218 cases were settled involving amount of Rs.63988981 /- through mutual compromise between parties. On this occasion Mohammad Gulzar Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge & Ashish Kumar Bansal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala visited each Lok Adalat bench of Patiala court and inspired the parties to resolve their dispute amicably and peacefully by taking recourse to his National Lok Adalat. Primary objective of the Lok Adalats is to settle the disputes amicably through compromise so as to save the time and money of the parties and to reduce personal enmity between them. Except, noncompoundable criminal cases, all kinds of cases even at prelitigative stage, can be brought before said lok Adalats, for amicable settlement.
While telling about the benefits of Lok Adalats, Bansal told that, when a case is settled in Lok Adalat, its award becomes final and no appeal lies against it. Moreover, court fees (if any paid) is refunded to parties and parties to dispute get speedy disposal of their dispute and that too, as per their own mutually settled terms. So, there is a winwin situation for both parties. National Lok Adalat was pertaining to all type of cases except criminal non compoundable cases; however, Monthly Lok Adalats are also organized on last working Saturday of every month cases are taken up by the Ld. Courts.
