National Seminar on “Understanding Women and Equality in Its Complexity” Organized at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

The Department of Sociology, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a National Seminar titled “Understanding Women and Equality in Its Complexity.” The seminar aimed to explore the multifaceted nature of gender equality and advocate for inclusive policies that promote gender justice.

The event was graced by Prof. Prit Pal Singh, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs. Eminent academicians, including Prof. Harvinder Singh Bhatti (Department of Sociology) and Prof. Jamshid Ali Khan (Department of Political Science), were invited as special guests.

Prof. Rajesh Gill, a distinguished scholar, served as the resource person and delivered an insightful lecture on the intricate socio-political and economic factors influencing women’s equality. The seminar aimed primarily to raise awareness and advocate for inclusive policies that promote gender justice. The discussions facilitated engaging debates and provided an excellent platform for intellectual exchange among attendees.

The seminar witnessed vibrant discussions, providing an excellent platform for intellectual exchange. Distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Hardev Singh (Head, Department of Religion), Dr. Harneet Billing (Head, Department of Education), Dr. Jaspreet Kaur (In-charge, Department of History), and Dr. Balwinder Kaur (Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science), were also present, further enriching the discourse.

The session was effectively moderated by  Parmdeep Singh, ensuring a seamless flow of discussions. Faculty members from the Department of Sociology, including Yashna Syal, Dr. Harmanpreet Kaur, and  Ekroop Kaur, played a key role in organizing the event.
