PSPCL,Sikh  XI register victories in Dasmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival

On the second day of the 31st Dasmesh  Hawks All India Hockey Festival being held at Rupnagar  two matches were played. In the first match, PSPCL Patiala beat SGPC Amritsar 4-2 whereas in the in second match Sikh XI beat Chandigarh XI by 4-0.

In the first match of the day, PSPCL Patiala overcame SGPC Amritsar in a closely contested match. Right from the start the match was played at a fast pace. Both teams matched each other in tactics. No team was able to the score in the first half. The score remained 0-0 at the end of the first half.

PSPCL Patiala broke the deadlock in the second half (39thminute) through a beautiful field goal by Gautam Paswn.

PSPCL Patiala scored again in the very next minute through a field goal by Harish Bawa. SGPC Amritsar decreased the lead of PSPCL Patiala in the 48th minute through a field goal by Jaspreet Singh. SGPC Amritsar tried its best to equalize. However, PSPCL Patiala scored their third field goal through Karan to make the score 1-3 in their favour. SGPC Amritsar scored in the very next minute (56th Minute) to make the score 2-3. SGPC Amritsar upped the ante and made several quick raids but PSPCL Patiala scored in the dying minutes of the match through a beautiful field goal by Deepak. The score at the end of the full-time was 4-2 in favour of PSPCL Patiala.PSPCL Patiala won the first match of Day 2 by 4-2.

Dilawar Khan (Govt. Contractor) was Chief Guest of this match.

The 2nd match of the day was played between Sikh XI and Chandigarh XI. No team was able to score in the first half of the match. The score at the half time was locked at 0-0.

In the second half Mandeep Singh of Sikh XI scored twice in the 46th and 52nd minute respectively to take a lead of 2-0. Sikh XI consolidated their lead through a goal scored by Gurmeet Singh through a penalty corner in the 55th minute to make the scoreline 3-0. Mandeep Singh of Sikh XI scored his third goal of the match (The first ha-trick of the festival) through a beautiful field goal in the 58th minute of the match. The final score at the end of the match was 4-0 in favour Sikh XI.

Renowned social worker and surgeon Dr R. S. Parmar was Chief Guest of this match. Principal Deepak Chopra was also present.

Gen. Secy. of Hawks Club S S Saini, Er. Harjitpal Singh (SDO – Water Supply and Sanitation) and other Club Members were also present.

Today’s matches were officiated by International Hockey Umpires  Gurpreet Singh, Malkit Singh, Ashwani Sharma and Amit Sharma.

Technical duties were done by Manjinder Singh and Varinder Singh under the guidance of the tournament director Gurmeet Singh.

Punjab Police brass band from Ludhiana displayed their band on the second day of the festival.
