Punjabi University Patiala signs Industry Academia Collaboration for developing Plagiarism Detection Tool

Under the esteemed leadership of Prof. Arvind, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala, Punjabi University signed Industry Academia Research Collaboration with BlueAves E-Health Services Pvt. Ltd. for the development of Plagiarism Detection tool which will work well for Indian and Non Indian Languages overcoming the limitations of existing popular tools like Ouriginal, Turnitin, Drillbit, ithenticate etc.
In 2019, Prof. Vishal Goyal, Department of Computer Science and Dr. Rajeev Puri, DAV College Jalandhar was granted 20 Lakh rupees grant for the Development of Plagiarism detection tool for Indian Languages with special focus on Hindi and Punjabi. The team had developed it as generalized architecture model applicable for every language of the world provided language resources for those languages are plugged into it. The working of the project has endorsed formally by Panjab University Chandigarh, Punjabi University Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. The Project evaluation team nominated by funding ministry in his final report had given recommendations to take this project to product level and bring this product into market.
Considering their recommendations, taking the permission from the funding ministry, the team agreed to tie knot with BlueAves E-Health Services Pvt. Ltd. as lifelong association for converting this prototype into a marketable product. The required expenses for converting this prototype into product will be fully borne by this company and there will be no financial liability on Punjabi University Patiala.
Once, the product will be ready, publicity, marketing etc will be taken care by the company and they will sell the product using their own resources. One the product is in market and is being sold, the net profit earned will be shared equally among Punjabi University Patiala and BlueAves E-Health Services Pvt. Ltd. The main objective of this collaborative research is that no plagiarism detection tool has so far been developed analysing the problem faced by various researchers and making such tools work for Indian language documents. This is unique kind of research association signed among the MoU’s has done so far in the University.
Punjabi University Patiala signs Industry Academia Collaboration for developing Plagiarism Detection Tool. Once this product will be ready, it will compete with the popular plagiarism detection tools like Turnitin, Ouriginal, ithenticate, Drillbit etc. Company will approach UGC , AICTE, Private Universities, foreign Universities for selling this product once it is ready.
Prof. Arvind ,Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala was very happy that Punjabi University Patiala is playing lead role such projects. He added that recently under the guidance of Prof. Vishal Goyal, Punjabi University Patiala research branch has been automated which itself is a big achievement by Punjabi University Patiala. He has also lead the team for automating the data collection process of NAAC SSR data through website. Similarly, Publication Bureau is under automation process. Ltd. were present.
