Rupnagar police nab accused of raping minor; police to reward informers

Rupnagar Police claimed to have arrested an accused of raping a minor girl at village Chatauli falling under Singh-Bhagwantpur police station of Rupnagar district.
While addressing a press conference here today Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana said that on February 8 last an unknown person committed a heinous crime of raping a minor girl in the area of village Chatauli.The girl was injured and was treated at PGI, Chandigarh at government expense.
He said that investigation of the case was conducted under the supervision of DSP (R) Rupinder Sohi, by the teams of in-charge CIA staff Rupnagar and SHO of. Police Station Singh -Bhagwantpur in an effective, technical and scientific manner and the accused Durgesh Kumar Yadav, resident of village Khathal, district Dhanusa, Nepal, and presently residing in village Chatauli today.
He said that a case under section 376, 376A, 376AB, 363, 366 9f IPC and section 6 of POCSO Act was registered at Singh – Bhagwantpur police station in this regard. He said that police had announced a reward of Rs one lakh for the person providing information regarding the accused adding that five persons, who had provided vital information about the accused, would be given a reward of Rs 20,000 each.
