BJP fielded former Indian Cricket Team Captain Gautam Gambhir

The Central Election Committee of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has fielded Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir from East Delhi location and Minakshi Lekhi from New Delhi.

Congress has yesterday announced Arvinder Singh Lovely from East Delhi and Ajay Maken from New Delhi.

Gautam Gambhir is a former Indian cricketer, who played all formats of the game. He is a left-handed opening batsman who played domestic cricket for Delhi, and captained Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Bangladesh in 2003, and played his first Test the following year against Australia. He captained the Indian team in six ODIs with India winning all six matches. He played an integral part in India’s wins in the finals of both the 2007 World Twenty20 and the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

Minakshi Lekhi is the national spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)  and a Supreme Court of India lawyer. She won the high-profile New Delhi parliamentary constituency with over 4.5 lakh votes as a BJP candidate in the 2014 elections.Her father-in-law, as a Supreme Court lawyer, has been widely known for handling the case of Satwant Singh, the murderer of Indira Gandhi and Zahira Sheikh, who was one of the victims in 2002 Gujarat violence
