Today, Public Works Department and Power Minister Punjab Harbhajan Singh ETO made a surprise visit at the PWD Head Office, Punjab Nirman Bhawan, mini secretariat, district administrative complex, Patiala.
On this occasion, the Public Works Minister clearly conveyed the message of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to the officials and employees of the Public Works Department that no compromise will be tolerated with the quality of the construction works of the state and corruption has no place in government works.
Harbhajan Singh ETO exhorted the PWD employees to work diligently and in a time bound manner in the public interest, saying that an employee should be determined to perform his government service properly and without corruption. The minister also strictly instructed to carry out all the construction works of the state directly related to the people of Punjab in a transparent and efficient manner. He added that any officer or employee who is found using corrupt practices will not be spared.
The Cabinet Minister also holds a meeting with officials of the department and thoroughly reviewed the working.
Referring to the 150-year-old rich history of the Public Works Department, Harbhajan Singh ETO said that even a small negligence of any officer or employee of any wing of this department can become a threat to someone’s life, so no negligence is acceptable or the same will not be tolerated at any cost.
Meanwhile, the minister expressed strong displeasure at the ‘No entry without permission’ boards on the doors of many offices and said that we are the servants of the people, so it is our moral and legal responsibility to protect the interests of the people, so such Boards should not be attached to doors.
