Sikh Environment Day celebrated at Mata Sahib Kaur College
The Gurmat Chetna Sabha, N.S.S Unit and Nanhi Chhan Unit of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education Dhamo Majra, Patiala celebrated the Sikh Environment Day dedicated to the ‘Gurta Gaddi Diwas’ of Shri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji in the College Campus .
Jugraj Singh ( District Forest Officer, Patiala) presided over the function as Chief Guest. The Programme started with the rally which was organised for the awareness regarding environment conservation. The rally was flagged off by Jugraj Singh.
Afterwards Saplings were also planted in the college campus by the Guests. Later on an extension talk was also delivered by Giani Prem Singh Ji. Principal, Dr. Harmeet Kaur Anand while addressing, congratulated the guests, staff and students on this occasion. She further added that it is a matter of great honour that S.G.P.C is celebrating this Sikh Environment Day. She also added that Shri Guru Har Rai Ji was a great lover of nature. He used to spend most of his time in the lap of nature. She also motivated the students to follow the tenants of Guru Ji and save our environment from degradation.
Giani Ji in his address sensitized the students about the deep thoughts of Guru Har Rai Ji regarding environment conservation. So the need is to change the mindset of society, only then we can do efforts for the welfare of the society and adopt the path shown by Guru Ji in a right way. Harbans Singh Gill( Sarpanch, Dhamomajra, Patiala), Sikander Singh (Forest Guard), Navjot Singh(Forest Guard), Parneet Kaur (B.O, Patiala) and all the staff members also graced this occasion.
